Georges Braque (1882–1963) was a French painter, printmaker, and sculptor. Together with Pablo Picasso, he co-founded Cubism, one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century. Braque first experimented with Fauvism, but soon developed a new visual language with Picasso that broke objects down into geometric forms. Later, his style became more focused on color, harmony, and poetic still lifes. His works are known for their calm, balanced atmosphere and deep interest in structure and space.
